The chimney restoration is complete. The soft friable brick has already regained strength and additional limewater treatments were carried out for several days to further consolidate the entire chimney. Unfortunately the brick on these chimneys had suffered extensive damage from the use of Portland cement however the structure is now solid and water is no longer leaching into the interior walls and ceilings. I have returned to the job site a few years after, to replace the tar covered lead flashing in combination with the replacement of the roof shingles. The chimney work came through several harsh New England winters intact and will remain strong for many decades to come.
